In 1951 the  new owners of the old Star Courts in Elk City, Oklahoma added tile baths to update the rooms. That was a big deal in the 1950s. And, if you were coming east out of Texas, that there was a motel with new tile baths up ahead was a welcome site, assuming there was a vacancy.
